Make Your Cat to Stop Scratching

Cats are one of the most popular pets around the world. People who own a cat certainly know how cats use their claws to scratch things. Sometimes cats scratch important things of the house. Cats use their claws to get traction on climbing, moving, accelerating and to defend themselves. Cats even use their claws to clean up after using the potty. Talk to your cat to train it not to scratch the things of the house.

Cats use their claws naturally. From catching a prey to just simply grab their toy, cats use their claws. Cats usually scratch things with their feet. Cats also sharpen their claws and remove the dead layers by scratching. Also, it develops their muscle strength. A cat that lives outside can scratch its claws with trees. But a pet cat does not have this option. So they scratch their claws with furniture, carpets etc. This is not their fault. A cat owner can follow some strategies to stop the cat from scratching important house materials.

Scratching Pole

An indoor living cat needs a safe way to sharpen its claws. A scratching pole can be the solution. It will give the cat a safe place to scratch. It will not harm anything and the cat can happily scratch that pole at will. These things are made with pads, carpets or sometimes with cardboards. Cats take this as a fun activity to sharpen their claws. This thing will help to save exclusive materials in the house. These posts come at different prices. Depending on materials and size they can be very costly. Some people even decorate a whole room for their cats depending on their ability. These posts can be also home-made.

A person can simply make this thing from cardboard, or old carpet. Just buying a pole and wrapping the material around the pole will do the job. The owner should be careful to attach the material to the pole. He/she should not use any metal screws because with time the cloth or paper with torn out and the screw can harm the cat. So a lace made with the material or tapes can be a good solution. Also, there are heavy duty adhesives available in the market. One thing to note that if the cat eats the adhesive, it will be harmful.

Trim

For a house cat, claws are not that much necessary. To be true, sharp claws can even harm the family members. So the owner can consider trimming the nails of the cat. Cutting the claws regularly can reduce the damage of scratching. The owner should cut the claws carefully and regularly. Because if the owner cuts the claws too deep, then the cat will face bleeding and pain. Also, the cat will not be able to move easily. And if the person does not cut the claws regularly, the cat will certainly scratch the things of the house. The process needs proper care. As the cat will face difficulties in doing the regular tasks to live.

People can train their cats not to scratch important materials of the house.
